In late February, 2015, our Search Team returned to Great Britain on a more serious mission for perfecting the sources and supply channels for this particular class of quality competition horse, which has resulted in the selection and importing of two new very special candidates for our now growing Equine Division: "Detroit," a beautiful 7-year old by Verdi who has already competed successfully in the United Kingdom, together with "Uno," a successful Jumper from Holland and the son of Nunero Uno, who both arrived together into the United States on March 12, 2015, and promptly entered into a modified version of the predevelopment program that their predecessors successfully experienced and benefited from. It is Arnell's intention to have Detroit competing by April 2015, with Uno to follow, shortly thereafter.

Detroit
Elegant "Detroit" arrives from England March 13th to his New Home in San Luis Obispo

Uno
Muscular "Uno" arrives from England and promptly begins his initial U.S training.

In early March, 2015, Count was entered into his first Intermediate-Level competition, where he performed amidst 18 professionals in a regional event of 19 total entrants. Under the ever-improving direction of Lauren Gallé, Count trotted home with Fourth Place overall, upstaged only by two well-respected professionals, one a renown super-rider, who by herself took first and third place on two very fine horses. Nonetheless, Count earned - both for himself and for Lauren - admiration, respect, and impressive accolades from many members of the Eventing community for producing this particular result. This was also Lauren's very first Intermediate Level competition in her still-young equestrian career, and her first event riding against all professionals, as she herself is still, officially, an amateur rider.

The Arnell organization, along with its equestrian Team, is very much looking forward to the upcoming spring, summer, and fall of 2015 Three-day Event competitions - well prepared for further developing their current stable of four principal competition sports horses, and looking forward to a return trip to Europe later in the year in order to plant additional seeds, and further fertilize the basic roots and underpinnings of this new, and still relatively green, athletically challenging endeavor, at both the human and the equine level. One would have to admit that this undertaking is already off to an early and impressive start toward achieving the team’s initial, ambitious goals.

Arnell's Newest Acquisitions

"Counterpoint"

"Detroit" is currently recovering from an eye injury, and will be actively competing throughout the 2016 season.

"Uno" will be the first of Arnell's competition horses to become part of a custom development partnership. Although originally sourced and initially trained to become a 3-Day Eventing competitor, during early development his particular skills and strengths indicated a leaning toward another equestrian field, known as "Hunter-Jumping." In short order, a renown hunter-jumping trainer and competitor, Kristen Harden took a keen interest in Uno, which has resulted in a special development partnership between Arnell and Kristin through which she is further developing him to be a high level competitor in that field, and through a new joint venture she has begun taking him on the competition circuit, and following that career, he will be marketed to an appropriate owner/rider with the proceeds being shared between the joint venturers. This is the first time that Arnell has ventured into this direction, and was an unexpected outcome of tracking the horse's best instincts. As one result of this new affiliation, Kristin has joined our new Advisory Board, and our Acquisition Committee is now sharpening their collective eyes for such potentialities during their annual European search trials.

Rolex - The Pinnacle: An International Invitational (Lexington, Kentucky) - April 23-26, 2015
The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, the United State’s premiere event, is produced by Equestrian Events, Inc., a non–profit Kentucky corporation initially formed to produce the 1978 World Three–Day Event Championships at the then brand new Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

ROLEX 1

In preparation for the 1976 World Championships, EEI organized the first horse trials ever held at the Horse Park, and then in 1977, coordinated the staging of the national Pony Club Rally in August, and produced the North American Junior Three–Day Event Championships in September.

The following year the 1978 World Three-Day Event Championships were held for the first time in the United States between September 14th to 17th, and were an unprecedented success. World Individual Event Champion Bruce Davidson, from Pennsylvania, retained his World Title riding his courageous, young American Thoroughbred, Might Tango. The popular team of horses and riders from Canada were the winners of the Team Gold Medal.

ROLEX 2

By staging this event every year, and at the highest possible level, EEI seeks to ensure the competitiveness of the United States in international competition, while fulfilling their Mission of supporting the development of riders and horses in the sports recognized by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), and thereby enhancing the overall equine industry worldwide. EEI is governed by a 28–person Board of Directors, with daily management overseen by their chosen professional staff.

Brian & Lisa Sabo
Brian and Lisa Sabo have been top level competitors and coaches for over 40 years, riding and training all the way through the Olympic level. Over the last several years they felt the Orange County area did not have a program that developed riders in a classical method. So Brian and Lisa started the Newport Mesa Riding Center and the Newport Mesa Pony Club.

The "Sabo System" is the foundation of excellent horseback riding and learning to ride correctly thorough a step-by-step system. The Sabo's apply this system to teach the essential basics of riding and horsemanship in a consistent manner.

Horsemanship is both a physical and a mental language, and since everyone learns in a different way, a variety of methods become utilized to develop the communication from trainer to student, and then from student to horse.

Whether it's a child just beginning, or the Advanced level competitor, Newport Mesa Riding Center offers high quality horseback riding lessons. Their Lessons include riders of the same skill level – and the whole family is invited to watch and enjoy the atmosphere. Their supportive environment emphasizes sportsmanship and fun.
