Design is an iterative process which demands both total abstraction and at the same time deep involvement, and – to the most gifted, rewards accordingly. A good design EVOLVES, and its author perpetually lives and relives all aspects of the 3-dimensional hologram as he or she draws from the N-dimensional palette of choices that first feed, and later inspire the entire design process.

From office-based site planning, to moving tons of earth with a Caterpiller© hydraulic excavator, to a delicate cocktail of acrylic faux paint droplets on a 3-strand camel-hair brush, design drives every fiber of our attention at Arnell Enterprises, and sets the stage for the canvas of the day. The final result, often seen by Planning Commissioners, project Appraisers, and banking underwriters as a passive set of Plans and Specifications brought to minimal life by a unique, project “Color/Material Board,” goes far beyond its initial planar depiction. The minds of the best and most socially-attuned designers navigate in four dimensions, three in space and one in time, and shy of the occasionally experientially-accurate architectural scale model, the true and valid test is always the completed project. It becomes a living canvas that must speak for itself, and endure to a ripe age.
